This course introduces the concept of Shift-Left Security within the Department of War’s software acquisition and delivery environment. At its core, shift-left security means that security is no longer a late-stage compliance activity. Instead, it is integrated across the entire lifecycle of software delivery, from design through deployment and continuous operation. Across this curriculum, you will see how multiple disciplines come together to achieve this outcome. You will examine Zero Trust development environments, the application of the Risk Management Framework within DevSecOps pipelines, the implementation of Security as Code, foundational secure coding practices, and modern container security design patterns. The bottom line is clear: DoW software must be secure from the start, continuously validated, and resilient throughout its lifecycle.
